Bridge Medical recently prevailed in a long-standing patent infringement dispute brought by McKesson Information Systems after attorneys for Bridge Medical successfully argued the patent was procured through inequitable conduct.

The Focal Point’s Role

The Focal Point collaborated and prepared graphics with attorneys from Morrison & Foerster’s San Diego office for all phases of this litigation: summary judgment and Markman Hearings, focus groups, and, ultimately, bench and jury trials. The technology at issue involved a patient verification system that employed bar code and wireless technology in a medical care context. The Focal Point created animations that showed how the patient system worked; a series of 2D graphics that explained our various non-infringement positions; and, for the bench trial on inequitable conduct, a series of flowcharts that explained the misdeeds of McKesson’s prosecuting attorney during the patent application process.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of California rendered McKesson’s patent unenforceable.
