Verderber v. Reno-Hilton
A class-action negligence case against the Hilton Hotel in Reno, Nevada, asserted that the illness of over 1,300 staff and guests was caused by a virus spread via food and beverages served in the hotel.
The Focal Point’s Role
The Focal Point worked with Plaintiff’s trial team to produce a series of graphics to illustrate the nature of the virus. These graphics focused on the mode of the virus–transmission, the violations of the local health code, and the quantity of hotel staff who continued to work in the food, beverage, and service departments while they were demonstratively ill and highly contagious.
The jurors deliberated for less than an hour and unanimously found negligent harm, malice, and fraud. They awarded the Plaintiffs $25 million in damages.
