McClure v. City of Long Beach [Public Policy]
In 1992, the McClures attempted to open a series of residential treatment centers for Alzheimer patients. The City of Long Beach engaged in a massive illegal effort to prevent the opening of these facilities. After battling government bureaucracy for over 12 years, Shirley McClure and her son Jason were awarded what is believed to be the largest verdict ever in a case involving the Federal Fair Housing Act.
